Experts Confirmed

Jeffrey Doker is in his fifth year as a grad student at UC Berkeley specializing in polyhedral geometry, including matroid polytopes, Minkowski sums and differences, and Ehrhart theory. His paper "Matroid Polytopes and their Volumes" will soon appear in the mathematics journal Discrete and Computational Geometry.

Leif Bansner
is a mechanical engineer and expert in human-powered vehicle design. He is part of the Rock the Bike squad and was on the stage and sound crew for the Bicycle Music Festival 2009.

Andrej Grubačić is an anarchist historian who has written prolifically on anarchism and the history of the Balkans. He is a lecturer at the ZMedia Institute, San Francisco Art Institute, and until recently the University of San Francisco.

Erika Hanson is an MFA candidate at CCA. She specializes in textiles and has worked in the industry of manufactured goods as well as handmade goods.

Leif Hedendal is a
self-educated San Francisco-based chef. He has worked at Citron, Greens Restaurant, and Imprevist in Barcelona. He is currently the chef of 3 secretive dining institutions.

Emily Huffman is a San Francisco and National Certified Massage and Bodywork Therapist, and a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. An artist since childhood, Emily completed her BFA in visual art at Tulane University. The transformative qualities of making art led her to study those of healing work, initially learning sacred Native American Ceremony, then training in Reiki and energy techniques, and finally becoming a massage and bodywork therapist. A graduate of The Body Therapy Institute in North Carolina, she has completed over 800 hours of therapeutic training.

Gareth Spor holds a doctorate in molecular and cellular biology from the University of California, Berkeley. His doctoral thesis concerned issues in retinal neurophysiology. He later went on to get a Masters of Fine arts degree from the California College of the Arts.

Ignacio Valero
is a current associate professor of Humanities and Sciences at CCA. He has also taught at the University of Madrid, University of the Andes, and Xavier University of Columbia. He was formerly with the International Center for Environmental Education, CIFCA, and the United Nations environment and development programs UNEP and UNDP. His current interests include the political economy of the image, consumption, desire, and the society of the spectacle; environment, globalization, and the commons; and the aesthetic, philosophical, and cultural dimensions of "archaic modernity" in science fiction, anime, gender and sexual difference, mass media, and sociopolitical development. He is also interested in understanding practices leading to critical and creative pedagogies, and he is working on a poetry manuscript.
